Preventative Care

Dr. AminZadeh’s approach is forward-looking, to ensure your long-term health and well-being, and requires a joint effort.

During your visits to Dr. AminZadeh, he will carefully outline preventative measures that you can incorporate into your oral hygiene care to help prevent the onset or recurrence of dental issues. Rule of thumb guidelines for prevention include:

Tooth Loss

Caused by dental decay, gum disease or trauma. Meticulous attention to teeth and gum hygiene, using fluoride (toothpastes and mouth rinses) and chlorhexidine (mouth rinses) combined with regular dental check-ups at your dentist will help reduce the risks of tooth loss. In some cases, trauma is unavoidable, however wearing mouth guards and/or helmets with face shields while playing sports will significantly help.

Dental Decay

Some individuals are susceptible to tooth decay and must pay special attention to dental hygiene to avoid tooth decay that is usually accompanied with pain and costly treatments.

Cancer

Oral cancer has been linked to:

  • The use of tobacco products
  • The excessive consumption of alcohol

Abstinence will help mitigate the risks of contracting oral cancer.

Systemic Conditions
