Frequently Asked Questions

What is a prosthodontist?

A prosthodontist is a highly educated and trained specialist, dedicated to the health of your entire mouth. Prosthodontists undergo an additional three years of rigorous studies after graduating from dental school and are able to handle complex cases due to their extensive training and experience. Dentists from all over the world compete to train in prosthodontics – one of a few specialties recognized by the American Dental Association.

How much will it cost to see a prosthodontist?

Dr. AminZadeh will conduct a thorough examination of your mouth and smile at your first consultation and, after reviewing your file carefully, he will invite you back for a discussion and treatment recommendation. It is at this second meeting that he will discuss the cost for your treatment. Each patient’s treatment is unique and it is not possible to provide costs until a full examination has been carried out.

What kinds of treatment does a prosthodontist specialize in?

Prosthodontists have been described as the architects in dental treatment. If you have a dental issue that requires a number of specialists, Dr. AminZadeh will become the designer and leader of your complete treatment program. He will ensure perfection every step of the way, whether improving your smile, fitting a crown, straightening your teeth or replacing a missing tooth with an implant.

How long will my treatment last?

The length of the treatment will vary depending on the procedure. Some treatments may take only a couple of visits while other treatments may progress over six months or more. Dr. AminZadeh will always be available for you post-treatment and take an active role in ensuring your treatment is a complete success far into the future.

Why consult with a prosthodontist?

We recommend you see a prosthodontist if any of the following applies to you:

• You have complex dental needs
• You demand high aesthetic results
• You need a professional who can oversee a procedure involving more than one specialist
• You want a professional to treat you who has undergone rigorous training
• You are missing one or multiple teeth
• You are missing an entire upper or lower arch of teeth
• You need a crown, bridge, overlay or underlay
• You are experiencing gum problems
• You are dissatisfied with your smile

Anyone, however, can see a prosthodontist at any time. You do not need a referral from your dentist.

Do I need a referral from my GP or general dentist to see a prosthodontist?

No. Anyone can see Dr. AminZadeh and we encourage you to schedule a consultation if you have any questions or concerns about the health or appearance of your mouth, teeth or smile.
